Denver Sandwich Recipe

A Denver Sandwich is also known as a Western sandwich which usually consists of a Denver omelette having ingredients like ham, onion, green pepper, and scrambled eggs. The Denver omelette is then placed between two pieces of bread. This sandwich was thought to be created by Chinese chefs in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

  1. Combine the eggs, milk and melted margarine. Beat them until slightly frothy.
  2. Add the ham, green onions, green pepper and season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Heat butter in a large frying pan over moderate heat. Then we need to melt 2 tablespoons of margarine.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the frying pan stirring it continuously while pouring.
  6. Now we need to cover the frying pan and cook egg mixture over medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes.
  7. After 3-5 minutes, remove the cover.
  8. With the help of a wooden spoon or spatula, we need to loosen the eggs by running it aroung the edges.
  9. If still the eggs are uncooked, then poke into the egg a spoon so that the uncooked part goes at the bottom of the frying pan.
  10. When the eggs are semi-cooked, we need to cut them in quarters and then flip each piece.
  11. We have to continue to cook until the egg mixture is set.
  12. We can also top the eggs with cheese slices to enhance the taste.
  13. Toast the bread slices.
  14. Place the egg mixture between the toasted slices.
